If a client's website crashes after updating or installing the plugin, what should you do?

If a client's website crashes after updating or installing the plugin, what should you do?

Before contacting our developer, follow these steps:

  1. Verify the following information:
    • Plugin version number.
    • Website URL.
  2. Check the following scenarios:
    • If you can access the website's admin panel:
Simply log in and deactivate or remove the plugin first.
    • If admin access is unavailable but the client has FTP access:
      • Request access from the client.
      • If the client knows how to handle FTP (and only if they are confident), instruct them to navigate to the plugins directory and delete the plugin folder named payplus-payment-gateway.
  3. To troubleshoot the issue:
    • It is advisable to obtain a backup of the client’s site, including a database backup (refer to the WordPress backup guide).
    • If the client agrees and the site is in development or not yet live (non-production), you can ask them to enable debug mode. This requires editing a file.
    • If the site is in production:
First, revert to a plugin version that previously worked. You can download older versions from the PayPlus plugin repository:
      • Go to the plugin link.
      • Select Advanced View (found below the version, last updated, etc.).
      • Scroll down to Advanced Options, where you'll see a section titled Previous Versions.
There, you'll find a dropdown menu to choose and download an older version.
  4. Installing the previous version:
    • Download the plugin version that worked without issues.
    • Log in to the WordPress admin panel.
    • Navigate to Plugins > Add New, and choose the downloaded file for installation.
